"Klangkapsel / Sound Capsule 022 is the early and archaic lo-fi recording Schwere Mäntel aus Gold und Blei (Heavy Coats of Gold and Lead). It was published in 1985 on the cassettes Medizin der Metalle (Medicine of Metals) and Goldenes Blei (Golden Lead). Both releases came out in small editions before the foundation of Allerseelen and Aorta. Medizin der Metalle was inspired by shamanic techniques of healing with sounds and metals, Goldenes Blei refers to an occult alchemical relation between gold and lead, the golden sun and the black sun Saturn. All tracks on both cassettes were without title - the current title was chosen in 2023. A main inspiration was definitely the metal percussion of the kabbalist Z´EV. I saw him for the first time live in 1983. Other essential influences were two books by the Romanian scholar Mircea Eliade: Schmiede und Alchemisten (The Forge and the Crucible) and Schamanismus und archaische Ekstastetechnik (Shamanism: Archaic Techniques of Ecstasy). Especially his texts in the second book on shamans that used loud sounds to invoke or ban spirits or even had coats with several kilograms of noisy metal parts to frighten demons impressed me a lot. These specific coats made me think many years later of the heavy coats made of gold and lead in the Eighth Circle of Hell in Canto XXIII of the La Divina Commedia by Dante Alighieri (di fuor dorate son, sì ch’elli abbaglia; ma dentro tutte piombo, e gravi tanto). This recording is also a kind of requiem for Z`EV who died in 2017." (Gerhard Hallstatt 31.05.2023)
